Rigolet RCMP and the Rigolet Northern Lights Academy have partnered for a “Friendship Challenge” which began Feb. 14 and runs to Feb. 28. The challenge is designed to teach children the importance of treating all people with respect and kindness. The program is set to coincide with February’s designation as Violence Prevention Month.
During the following two weeks, whenever a student in the school is observed by a teacher performing a random act of kindness, the student’s name will be entered for a draw at the end of the month. In addition, all participating students will receive acknowledgement of their contribution.
The RCMP and Northern Lights Academy hope that, in some small way, the Challenge contributes to reducing violence in our school, homes and communities.
It is hoped that the Friendship Challenge will become an annual event.
